E85 is No Greener Than Gasoline

We burn about 25-30 million barrels a day just to get to work in the United States. And the government gave us the idea that we could make our oun fuel, so we would not think about what was the real problem with our transportation industry. See, they don't want you to look at how our cars and trucks only get 15-20 miles per gallon. And that hasen't changed in over 40 years. You could buy a truck in 1971 with a V8 engine and get 15 mpg. Go and buy a 2009 pickup with a V8 engine, and you will get 15 mpg. Why has that not changed in over 40-50 years? I will tell you why. The government and the automobile manufactures are in the same boat together. They want to make as much money as they can on all the oil we can find before it is all used up. So why make a car that gets 60 mpg. That would just burn up the fuel up slower. Can you see that?

Now they think we can produce enough corn ethanol to help our fuel supply. For instance, in Minnesota, where they have 18 ethanol plants, with a capacity of almost 1 million gallons in one year. Can you see that this is not going to help us one bit. And those plants need to burn coal or natural gas for production. Then they also create greenhouse gases when making the corn ethanol. Even now, some of the corn ethanol plants have gone bankrupt.

E85 is not our answer to our transportation problem. Our real problem is finding a company that will produce a vehicle that will get 100 per gallon. And by burning ethanol, our environment will not be any better off. You see, corn ethanol for fuel will add more particulate matter into the air we breath.

So if you live in the midwest states, think about the E85 car or truck your own or about to buy. This is not our answer. We need to start telling our government that we don't want to be whitewashed or lied to anymore. We want a vehicle that gets 75-100 miles per gallon.

We don't need a $42,374.98 SUV anymore. We need something new. Something everyone can buy.

Thank you for your time,
